Early Morning Blaze

Six o'clock this morning on way to work the roads had been block by Fire trucks and Police cars when I got close enough to see, I found that the Greek Restaurant Patris on Marine Parade, was fully guttered.

Hotplate grill off

The Battle for the hotplate is hotting up; I don’t know if anybody has noticed that we now have 7 places to get a Hamburger. The Golden Arches standing still at centre stage and the old man of Burgers Greasy Joes has lost its way, gone are the days when the Cops dance on the tables and the early morning breakfast club has gone. The new owners have guttered it and turned it something of a sports bar with bad service and moved the cooking to next door.
Now there are new contenders in the Acland street shopping zone, starting at 62 is Hello Dolly, this a wonderful little shop great service and dam great burgers and chips next on the walk down Acland Street is Harry’s at 92a this is the old fish and chips that won best fish and chip shop in the 80s, it’s now been revamp under new ownership it’s clean and fresh but fish comes first and burgers second, still good but second.

Across the street at 83a is grill’d haven’t tried a burger there yet but looks well layout if have you tried a burger there let me know. Back across the street is Pit Stop at 96 as in its name a great Pit stop for a quick burger.

Around the corner opposite the National Theatre on Barkley Street is newly opened Danny’s in the old burger bar that was there for years, it’s clean fresh and rock ‘n’ Roll Jukebox while you wait I always wonder why the old owners didn’t clean up like Danny’s has done good onya Danny’s.

I do have one compliant when I grew up a hamburger with lot was Cheese, Onion ,Tomatoes, Egg, Bacon, Pineapple, BEETROOT and Dead horse, Not one of the burger joints had BEETROOT what happened to Beetroot it’s my favourite.

Cheers Mightymouse.

Lobby Loyde a Tribute

Last night Tuesday 29th of August an amazing line up of Australia’s rock talent came together for a Tribute concert at the Palace for Lobby Loyde.
It was the biggest night in St.Kilda for years and the longest que I have ever seen at the Palace. Lobby and the Coloured Balls was the first live band I saw at Iceland Ringwood, Lobby represents a Time in Australian freedom that has now been lost, the working class teens of Melbourne became the Sharps and every suburb had it’s gang and every Sunday night they gathered at Iceland Ringwood to see Australian rock acts and Lobby was the one that led the way followed by many of the acts that came together for the tribute.
Thanks to the Bands, Support Act, the Palace, Ticketek, and many others who gave their time for this special night.

Here's an interview with Lobby posted June 16 2006 with some great pics

Ghost Girls
Dark nights bright lights beam down on Ghost Girls who ply their sex on the Grey Street,
The George hotel stands Sentinel on the dark street of night trade.
Golden Brown is all they hang for, Golden Brown is all they live for,
and Golden Brown is what they die for, Ghost Girls Ghost girls.
Ghost Girls of the night walk the street of Greeves with tearers for Golden Browns warm embrace
Lost in the night trade for human souls they ply their sex for Golden Browns warm embrace.
Golden Brown is all they hang for, Golden Brown is all they live for, and Golden Brown is what they die for, Ghost Girls Ghost girls.
Sitting in bars killing pain killing time drinking whisky and rye in time no time for angel no time for pain just one time for golden browns warm embrace.
Golden Brown is all they hang for, Golden Brown is all they live for, and Golden Brown is what they die for, Ghost Girls Ghost Girls.

What Needle Exchange

This is my doorway I go to work at 6.00am only to come home to this, the person who left them has take no responsibility for their waste.

I look at it this way a person robs a Milkbar or a Video shop with a gun is changed with armed robbery, and the person who supplied the gun is changed with firearms offences and the supplying of an offensive weapon.

The same shops are now being robbed with syringes and the offender is changed the same as the person with the gun, but the supplier gets of Scott free.

The suppliers have been give the responsibility to EXCHANGE the syringes under an exchange program, but they are not exchanging them just handing them out, they to must bare responsibility, that means one item for another if they are not going to bare responsibility they to should be changed the same as the gun supplier with a criminal offence.

So who will bare responsibility for the next small business that is robbed?

The latest battle for a Skate park

My Response to the stories that have been in the local paper about a new skate park.

I started the first Skate Rollerblade Shop in St.Kilda and Australia in 1989 called Apache Junction, I put a lot of work and time into the local community when St.Kilda was just becoming a place to live. .

I started a skate Team called Team Apache and not one of these kids got out of hand or in trouble with the law they were all St.Kilda Residents.

These Kids now adults travelled Australia and the world and represented Australia and our State at numerous competitions, our St.Kilda kids were the top 10 skaters in Australia for three years straight and 2, 3, 4 in the World.

Team Apache made appearances on all major Televisions show such as Hey Hey and Vizard, and opened the Australia music awards with the girlfriend group, worked on the Triple Thunders for 2 years, and one was even employed by the Sultan of Brunei to teach skating at Jerudong theme park, Brunei Darussalam.
Lewis Marnell the youngest is still one of the worlds top Skaters now a skateboard is still travelling the world, at 22 he has his own apartment in the city now and is a great Australian representative St.Kilda should be Proud.

Team Apache and Apache Junction has worked with many Councils and community groups such as Berry Street for kids, Association for the Blind to mention a couple.

I myself was a founding member of the Victoria inline hockey Association personal trainer for heartbreak high and consultant for the skate ramp and the end of pit lane in Albert Park, Organised the first 3 Australian inline skate championships and consulted for Education Victoria and I even took skates to St.Kilda Primary for the kids to learn skating.

The latest battle for a skate park has made my blood boil I haven’t said a word a about skating for about ten years but when a Joker yes a Joker a would be funny man from the not be to named sports show pipes up and wants to ban the building of a skate park with ill informed propaganda that was it.

So let’s have a look at football players and what they do when there minders are not around.

Do you need to be reminded about one play bonking his team mates wife, then there’s football players Violents against Women, drunken brawls out of and in side Pubs and the abandonment of a car on a west Australian highway and as I’m writing this letter another of the not to be mentioned sports show thinks assaulting women before sex is just foreplay, these voices need to removed from the debate until they reform themselves.

Then we have the St.Kilda Sport Club and the Elephant and Wheelbarrow both these places sell the Demon brew yes Alcohol the precursor of all Trouble and what is that, the break up of families and downfall and death of so many human beings it’s is the most Dangerous! Drug of all, without the precursor of Dutch courage many people young and old would never have started the downfall.

The Elephant and Wheelbarrow has been in our town for only a few short years as many of the businesses in Fitzroy Street that sell Alcohol, I believe their view is not valid they came here for the bright lights big city and the almighty dollar. Their view should be struck from the debate.

It’s almost 15 years since I ask the council for a skate park, boy time’s flies good to see they are still pursing it.
